A “SATEL and DNWP Advanced Telecommunications Laboratory” will be established at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). SATEL Oy and Dedicated Network Partners (DNWP) will sponsor radio technology and transmission equipment to establish this new laboratory in the Telecommunications Program in the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
A Memorandum of Understanding to establish the laboratory was signed by Mr. Janne Kankaanpaa, Sales Manager, SATEL Oy, and Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, President, AIT, on 15 May 2018.
President Worsak thanked SATEL and DNWP for providing laboratory equipment, and stated that this gesture would help the institute in strengthening its Telecommunications Laboratory. AIT laboratories had suffered during the flood of 2011, where the Institute laboratories had suffered major losses. The sponsorship of telecommunications equipment will help us refurbish our laboratory, Prof. Worsak added.
Janne Kankaanpaa also spoke about additional opportunities to collaborate with AIT. Elaborating on SATEL and DNWP, Janne mentioned that they specialize in mission-critical communication solutions. The companies focuses on communication security and reliability, and they are currently working with water and power utilities as well as the defence forces in Thailand.
AIT will also develop and new laboratory course along with SATEL and DNWP to help students gain experience in advanced standardized equipment.
Attending the event were Prof. Voratas Kachitvichyanukul, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Dr. Attaphongse Taparugssanagorn of Department of ICT, SET; and Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Director, Office of Advancement.
