Dr. Siripong Malasri
Appointed Dean of the School of Engineering at Christian Brothers University (CBU), Memphis, United States of America. 
Dr. Siripong Malasri, received his Master of Engineering in Structural Engineering and Construction 1977, from AIT School of Civil Engineering.
Dr. Siripong is also a Professor of Civil Engineering at CBU and serves as the Interim Director of the Graduate Engineering Program, Chair of the Packaging Department and Director of the Healthcare Packaging Consortium. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Tennessee and is an ISTA certified packaging laboratory technologist.

Mr.Sumitha Sumanaweera
Appointed as Deputy General Manager, Corporate Planning, National Water Supply & Drainage Board, Sri Lanka.

Mr.Sumitha Sumanaweera, received his Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering & Management (EEM) from School of Environment, Resources and Development at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 2004.

Mr. Chandrashekhar Kakal
Appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Infotech. L&T Infotech is a subsidiary of L&T Limited, a USD 14 billion conglomerate.Mr. Kakal, received his Master of Business Administration in International Business from AIT’s School of Management in 1996 and also will join the board of directors of L&T infotech. L&T Infotech is ranked among the top 10 IT service companies in India.

Mr. Suman Prasad Sharma

Appointed by the Government of Nepal as new Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communications.

Suman Prasad Sharma, received his Master of Engineering in Environmental Technology and Management from The School of Environment, Resources and Development at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 1995.

Mr. Yuba Raj Bhusal

Appointed by The Government of Nepal as the new Finance Secretary.

The Cabinet meeting chaired by Rt. Hon’ble Sushil Koirala, the Prime Minister of Nepal decided for his transfer from the National Planning Commission (NPC) to the Ministry of Finance on April 10, 2014

Yuba Raj Bhusal, received his Master of Science in Regional Development Planning and Management from School of Environment, Resources and Development at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 1996.

Mr. Vajira Kulatilaka
AIT alumnus who has been a Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) board member since October 2009 and will succeed Krishan Balendra as the new Chairman of CSE from June 5, 2014. Vajira Kulatilaka, was also recently adjudged the ‘Best Investment Banking CEO Sri Lanka 2014’ by Global Banking and Finance Review. 

Vajira Kulatilaka, received his Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering and Management from School of Advanced Technologies at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 1987, He was awarded AITAA Distinguished Alumni Award in Year 2011.
Mr. Piyal Dushantha Hennayake

AIT alumnus from Sri Lanka who was recently elected by The Association of Professional Bankers (APB) as its President at their AGM .

Piyal Dushantha Hennayake, presently serves as the Deputy General Manager – Services of Hatton National Bank PLC and CEO/Director of its subsidiary Sithma Development Pvt Ltd. Mr. Hennayake received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management of Technology from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 1992.

Dr. Cao Quoc Hung

Appointed as Deputy Minister, Ministry of Industry and Trade in Vietnam.

Dr. Hung is a graduate of AIT having completed his Doctoral program in Engineering in Energy Technology from the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) in 1998. He has worked on the topic “Sectoral Energy Demand Analysis and Long-Term Demand Forecasting for the S.R. Vietnam.”

Colonel Romeo Brawner Jr.
AIT SOM ’99 alumni wins recognition in Philippines. Colonel Romeo Brawner Jr., received his Master of Business Administration in Management of Technology from the School of Management, Asian Institute of Technology in 1999. Colonel Romeo Brawner Jr. from Baguio City was chosen as one of the awardees for this year’s search for The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS). TOPS is an annual recognition program by the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. & the Rotary Club of Makati Metro, for the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), that honors and recognizes their dedication, bravery, professionalism & sacrifices in the military service. Professor Yew-Chaye Loo
AIT Alumnus and former seconded faculty member Professor Yew-Chaye Loo has been named to The Queen’s Birthday 2013 Honours List. Professor Yew-Chaye Loo of Griffith University, Australia, has been named to The Queen’s Birthday 2013 Honours List and will be made a Member of the Order of Australia, one of his country’s highest civilian honours.

Prof. Loo was named for his significant service to civil and structural engineering. Originally from Malaysia, Yew-Chaye Loo graduated from the Asian Institute of Technology in 1968 with a Master of Engineering in Structural Engineering and Construction from the School of Civil Engineering. Dr. Verapong Chaiporm
Thai Alumnus appointed as a Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand :

Dr. Verapong Chaiporm, who received his PhD at the Environmental Engineering of AIT in 1991, is recently appointed as a Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), Thailand as per a cabinet resolution on 20 March 2012. As a state enterprise under the Ministry of Industry, IEAT acts as the government monitor and enforcer of industrial regulations and standards for factories within industrial estates. Dr. Shahadat Chowdhury
AIT alumnus elected to public office in Australia, Dr. Shahadat Chowdhury, an AIT alumnus won the local government election in New South Wales (NSW), Australia on 8 September 2012. He has been elected as a council governing Parramatta City Council, and will serve for four years. Dr. Chowdhury has been serving as Senior Hydrologist in the NSW Office of Water. After obtaining his Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), he obtained his Master’s in Water Resource Engineering from AIT in 1989. His Doctorate is from University of New South Wales in Hydrology.
Ms. To Thi Thuy Hang
A Vietnamese alumna appointed as Deputy Resident Representative (Operations), UNDP Myanmar. Ms. To Thi Thuy Hang, who received Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from AIT in 1991, has been appointed as Deputy Resident Representative (Operations), UNDP Myanmar. Prior to taking up this new position Ms. Hang had been as Operations Specialist, Evaluation Office, UNDP New York from 2006-2012.
Dr. Qwanruedee Chotichanathawewong
AIT Energy alumnus appointed President of Thailand Environment Institute: 
Dr. Qwanruedee Chotichanathawewong, who is a graduate of the Energy field of study, has been appointed President of Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), starting in January 2012. With more than 20 years of experience in the field of energy and environment, Dr. Qwanruedee is an expert in various fields of environment. Environmental pollution, environmental economics, environmental policy, climate change and sustainable development are the key areas of her expertise.
Dr. Jiban R Majumder
Alumnus joined the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo: 
Dr. Jiban R Majumder, who obtained PhD in Agricultural Systems in 2002, has recently joined the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo to serve as Economic Minister & Charge de’ Affairs for four years. Mr. Ahmed Saiful Islam
AIT alumnus appointed COO of HSBC (Bangladesh). The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited in Bangladesh has announced the appointment of Ahmed Saiful Islam as the bank’s chief operating officer with effect from January 1, 2012. Mr. Saiful received his MBA from AIT’s School of Management in 2004. Before assuming the COO role, Saiful was the head of Global Payments and Cash Management at HSBC, Bangladesh. Saif has worked in HSBC and Citibank in various capacities and across different functions of payments and cash management, and global transaction banking.
Prof. Wahyudi Triweko Robertus
Alumnus elected as new Rector of Universitas Parahyangan:
Prof. Wahyudi Triweko Robertus, who received his M. Eng. in Water Resources Engineering from AIT in 1984, has been elected as Rector of Universitas Parahyangan, Indonesia with the terms of office from 2011 to 2015. The decision was based on various assessments, including assessments from two external consultants: Principia Learning Lab and The Jakarta Consulting Group.
Ms. Binda Pandey
Alumna elected to the governing body of International Labour Organisation (ILO): Ms. Binda Pandey, who received M. Sc. in Gender and Development Studies from AIT in 1982, has recently been elected to the governing body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and becomes the deputy member of the 188-member governing body of ILO. Ms. Pandey is the first woman elected to the governing body of ILO from South Asia and she was one of the 1000 women proposed for the Nobel Peace Price 2005.
Dr. Shabbir H. Gheewala
AIT alumnus becomes Professor at KMUTT:
Dr. Shabbir H. Gheewala, an AIT alumnus, has recently been appointed Professor at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand. Dr. Shabbir completed his Master’s and Doctorate under the Environmental Engineering Management (EEM) Program in AIT in 1995 and 2001 respectively.
Mr. Chawalit Chantararat
AIT Alumnus invited to be an advisor to the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), Thailand: A meeting of the units under the direct command of the Royal Thai Army was held in the afternoon of Thursday 1st December 2011 chaired by the Army Commander-in-Chief Gen. Prayuth Chan-Ocha. Before the meeting, there was a special lecture by Mr. Chawalit Chantararat (WRE, 1981), Managing Director of TEAM Group, Thailand on causes of floods, future trends, and preventive measures. After the lecture, the army chief instructed the concerned units to adopt the presented information for use as a guideline in future planning and invited Mr. Chawalit to be an advisor to the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), Thailand.

On the occasion of the 115th Graduation at AIT on 26 May 2011 the following alumni have conferred the title of Emeritus Professor:

(1) Professor Ashim Das Gupta, who received M. Eng. and Dr. Eng. in Water Resources Engineering from AIT in 1973 and 1976, respectively,

(2) Professor Mario T. Tabucanon, who received M. Eng. and D. Eng. in Industrial Engineering from AIT in 1974 and 1977, respectively, and

(3) , who received an M. Eng. and Dr. Eng. in Industrial Engineering and Management from AIT in 1982 and 1986, respectively.
